Over the summer BOP partnered with the YOLO program at McClymonds high school to host our summer youth program themed Liberated Communities. We engaged 40 youth ranging from ages 12-18. The program was themed Liberated Communities to engage young people in what systems and structures need to be in place to prevent police violence and heal the Black community from a cycle of violence rooted in internalized racism.
Upon graduation the youth hosted a community event that brought out 100 friends and family to celebrate the completion of the 6 week program. There was lots of food, fun and laughter as the youth performed the Community Organizing play and unveiled their visual arts project illustrating images of a liberated community.
Congratulations 2015 Summer Program Graduates!
