BOP’s Annual Friends N’ Family BBQ is Saturday, August 17!

Join the Black Organizing Project in Arroyo Viejo Park for a day of fun, food, family and performances by young people!

This event is open to the Oakland community. We’ll be hosting a graduation for the participants of BOP’s leadership development programs for youth, Baby BOP and the Youth Organizer Development Space (Youth Space).

You DON’T want to miss this opportunity to hear from and engage with inspiring and motivated youth in your community who have worked so hard over the summer to develop their leadership and organize around issues of school push-out and ending the criminalization of Black youth in Oakland.

Come learn more about the Bettering Our School System (BOSS) campaign and how you can get involved! We need YOU in order to make a change for Oakland youth! Are YOU a BOSS!?

Bring your lawn chairs, bring your family, bring your friends for a full day of tasty BBQ, good music, a basketball tournament and other games, youth-directed theatre performances, a graduation ceremony, free giveaways, BOP T-shirts and prizes, and community solidarity.

RSVP on Facebook and tell us who you’re bringing.

CAN’T MAKE IT??: Show your support by helping us SPREAD THE WORD! Use #BOPFNFD13 on your social media with a post of the flier! Tell people, if you love the youth in your community, THIS IS WHERE IT’S GOING DOWN!

Donations are WELCOME! This is a free event open to and led by the community! Our members are providing food, time and supplies to make this event a success! If you can donate uncooked, unopen food for the BBQ, toys or merchandise for prizes, or if you can spare some cash, anything helps! In addition, if you’re young artist/ performer or DJ willing to contribute to this community event, let us know!
